Our Story
This is the story of Aristides de Sousa Mendes, a man of conviction who saved 30,000 lives during WWII, in June 1940. Among them were10,000 Jews. As the Portuguese General Consul stationed in Bordeaux, France, he issued 30,000 visas for safe passage to Portugal. He defied the direct orders of his government and exhibited courage, moral rectitude, unselfishness, and self-sacrifice by issuing visas to all refugees regardless of nationality, race, religion or political opinions.This narrative film expresses his heroic actions towards humanity, which will perpetuate his legacy of justice for a new generation. In 1966, Yad Vashem named him Righteous Among the Nations. He is considered to have achieved the largest single rescue operation of World War II.
The Impact
We need your support so that we can complete the final printing of the film in 35mm. Our goal is that the film will have international release, and will be shown in theaters, universities, high schools and cultural centers. This film should be experienced by all so that Aristides de Sousa Mendes’s act of conscience lives on. Though he died penniless and in misery due to his actions (which have now been recognized by the Portuguese government), he said, “If thousands of Jews are suffering because of one Christian [Hitler], surely one Christian may suffer for so many Jews”.
What We Need & What You Get
We are looking to raise $30,000+ ($1 for every person Aristides de Sousa Mendes saved) so that we can put the film on 35mm, English and French dubbing, DCP, Dolby Digital License, marketing, and to create a short video of testimonies of descendants and survivors who were helped by Mendes. We have already completed the full photography of the film as well as post production.
With your help, we will be able to complete the film in the best quality possible. In return, you will receive a DVD of the film, CD of the soundtrack, and many many thank you’s.

Kerner Says Facebook May Be Worth More Than $100 Billion

Jan. 21 (Bloomberg) — Lou Kerner, a social-media analyst at Wedbush Securities Inc., talks about $1.5 billion in financing raised by Facebook Inc., owner of the world’s most popular social-networking site.
Goldman Sachs Group Inc. — and funds managed by the firm — along with Digital Sky Technologies invested $500 million in Facebook in December, valuing the company at $50 billion, Facebook said today in a statement. Goldman Sachs has also completed an oversubscribed offering to its non-U.S. clients in a fund that invested $1 billion, also valuing the company at $50 billion. The new trailer for the David Fincher-directed film starring Jesse Eisenberg, Justin Timberlake, Andrew Garfield, Joe Mazzello and Rashida Jones.
Writer/producer Aaron Sorkin announced on his Facebook page that he is going to be writing a movie about the popular social networking site. Mark Zuckerberg created the site in 2004 at Harvard during his sophomore year. It now has over 400 million members worldwide.
Eisenberg will play Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg; Timberlake will play Sean Parker, the Napster co-founder who became Facebook’s founding president; and Andrew Garfield will play Eduardo Saverin, the Facebook co-founder who fell out with Zuckerberg over money.
